Thread Sort Order in PDA Mode

Is it my imagination or has the order in which Threads are displayed while viewing in the PDA mode changed to Ascending order based upon date created (i.e., oldest displayed first)?

Individual reply postings have always been sort in Ascending order, but the Threads themselves used to be displayed in Descending order.

Is this an individual setting or something determined by the site itself?
