General posting rule question

Hi all,

I posted at the .org site about a bike I was thinking of buying and just noticed I was banned. It was my first post there and was going to make the same type of post here.

i.e. "I'm thinking of buying this bike- here are the stats"

I'm not new to forums in general, but at this point, I'm unclear on what rule I broke to be perma-banned with no warning.

Rather than risk being banned here, is there some rule against that type of question on this forum?

Come on. It had to be more than that. What were you thinking about buying, a douche sickle?

I don't think that marque will even get you banned here. Just watch out for certain words that start with an R or a D.

ha ha.

Ok, I'll admit it, I posted I wanted to put a GSXR motor in an 1198 to make it a REAL bike.... maybe that was it.

But seriously... I'm completely lost. I posted about a white 1198 I was looking to buy, posted the text from the ad and a link to a picture of the bike.

I understand it's a total noob question, but I was hoping someone could give me insight to what I would want to ask the owner or things to look for. I'm not new to bikes, but am new to Ducati (although I test rode a 996 a few years ago and have ridden my friends ST4).

A couple of points that I've found about this site:
*Hall of wisdom has a lot of good info and is a great first place to look for anything.
*There are some guys on here that pack a tremendous amount of knowledge. They are pretty easy to spot.
*Ask a question, but don't believe everybody. Some questions bring out pissing contests from time to time. Don't let it get under your skin.
*Have your duc in a row before you buy that bike. There are a lot of people here to help you.

Glad you are joining the obsession.

All good points.

I've always wanted a Duc but could never bring myself to spend the money until now. Moto-Forza is about 5 minutes from my house and I hear they are a decent shop. I also have a friend who is a motorcycle mechanic who is very familiar with the Duc's platform. So I have some support locally if needed.

FWIW- I got a response back from Alvin at .org. My post contained a link (to the photo of the bike) and since I'm a noob, that triggered their spam-bot system.

There are no such automated systems here...it's all done by hand.

Anyhoo, feel free to make that post here in the appropriate section, in this case Superbikes...and welcome!
