One reason I installed a belly pan, before even riding my bike for the first time, is it gives me a li'l peace of mind. And it paid off this summer when my resivoir tank sprung a leak. I sure am glad the fluids were collecting into the belly pan and not getting onto my rear tire. I've never had a problem with reattaching it w/o help either. I'm a bit surprised that more full fairing sportbikes aren't designed with one. But thats just my opinion of 'em.
