Blue Ridge Parkway
Not much of a ride per say but I did manage to slip away with the wife to make a bonsai run to the mountains on Sunday. We left Saturday night with the bike in tow and spent the night in Lynchburg, VA. We left Sunday morning heading down 24 just past Stewarstville to meet up with a fellow member here. From there we headed north up the parkway to Buchanan were we stopped at a quaint B&B for lunch.
The Rhein River Inn-German Restaurant and B&B - Virginia Is For Lovers
It was a beautiful ride and the weather was just about perfect. The foliage was just starting to turn and the views were awesome. After lunch, which took longer than expected because the girls seemed to hit it off and were chatting it up quite a bit we went our separate ways. I headed back up and over the mountain on 43 towards the motel where the trailer was and they headed home. As usual I neglected to bring my camera (left it in the jeep) so I don't have any pictures to share.
It was a short ride but a well needed break. Many thanks to our host's for turning us on to the local roads, we will have to head that way again soon and for a extended period next time.
I won't say who they were but one of looked like Yosemite Sam, sorta

Jealous! I am headed that way on my way to Charlottesville, VA very soon. I sure do miss the leaves changing in the Blue Ridge.

Awesome ride, I love that ride. I took it two years ago south from the beginning to the end. Amazing Mexican joint at the end of it, just before or just after the border, I can't remember. I like the 15MPH corners, WOAH! It was only my second time on a bike, but I want to go back. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the reminder of what a beautiful ride that is.

I am doing my best to make plans for the weekend of the 23rd, if anyone else might be thinking of making the trip let me know. That's just more motivation and a better way to get the wife on board since she will not make the trip this time. She had never been on the parkway and I wish we had more time. I am glad I took the time to post this especially if it brinks back memories for others.
Next time I will bring the damn camera

Found them I recommend
Rancho Viejo on Hwy 220 in Daleville, VA by Roanoke
and
Mexico Viejo on 460 by Lynchburg coming out of Bedford ( I believe this was by the pass thru)
(it maybe El Viejo, anyways the locations i'm 99% sure)

Sounds like a great way to see out the riding season up there. I'm so envious. The great roads, those beautiful multiple colors of Autumn blowing across twisties, the 45 foot RV'ed blue haired site gawkers plugging up the roads like a 5 year old fuite cake plugging up the lower intestines, the snow coverd drive ways for months on end, the.....
Naw, I'm jealous as hell.

Mike,
Half the reason I went was because of you flat landers (texas boys) giving me hell at deals gap about being only 3 hours away from the mountains and how jealous you were
I have to say I brag about you guys making that trip! You have more balls than I do
