The Texas Hill Country At It's Best - Part1

This past weekend the weather here in Texas was just too good to waste not riding so the wife and I took off for the hill country up around Leakey. There are three road there that are sort of the “Dragon” of Texas. RR335, 336 and 337 are the “Three Sisters”. For anyone visiting the area this is a must do. I’ve ridden the Dragon at Deal’s Gap and I have to say these roads are more challenging and intimidating. There’s not as many curves but the ones that are there will test your riding skills to the max.

We left Crosby at 6:00 Saturday morning and the temps were in the mid 50’s. Going across Houston it was warm but once we cleared town the temps dropped and started to soak in. We freak’n froze for a while. He headed out old Highway 90 (rather than I10). Our first stop was the brewery in Shiner. They weren’t open but it was still a great photo op and just being close to the big vats made me….. well, sort of high. I felt like Homer. Beeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr.

We continued on Highway 90 on to Seguin, up through New Braunfels and on to Leakey. We stayed at an old inn which first opened for business in 1941, The Frio Canyon Lodge. A nice little place with 10 rooms and a restaurant.
