Riding in Arkansas (no pics sorry)

Not sure if any of you fella’s have ridden in Arkansas but I had an awesome time riding the Hyper around there a couple weeks ago. Eureka Springs was my starting and ending point for this is the route I did: Highway 23 South to Highway 16 East, 21 North, 74 West, back onto 23 North and back up to Eureka Springs.

The route is a really cool 150-mile loop, the roads are in fantastic condition and extremely twisty with lots of elevation change. Every road sign is a squiggly line marked 25-45mph under it and at one point heading west on 74 the sign read crooked and steep next three miles. It was a blast with extreme grade descents and sharp 130 degree bends all the way down. The elevation changes so much that my ears were actually popping several times. The scenery and wild life is also beautiful as this route takes you into the Ozark National Forest.

Gas is the only real concern with this ride, especially for me being on the Hypermotard. I filled up In Eureka Springs and was extremely relieved to find a small shack of a gas station in Fallsville. They only have 87 octane in Fallsville for those that care by the way.

Eureka Springs is also a really cool town with plenty to do. Bubbas BBQ is an awesome place for lunch or dinner and theres plenty of other good riding in this area as well.

Just thought I would share in case any fellow Ducatisti are going to be riding in the area this year.

Have fun,
Nick

I have read a few articles on riding the Ozarks in magazines such as "Rider". The twisties back there look very different than the ones I ride out here in the west: more ridge running than canyon carving.

Another interesting looking spot is the adjoining Ouachita Mountains across the state line in Oklahoma.

The riding in N. Ark./S. Mo. is wonderful, having ridden and driven a number of the roads in the area I would take any opportunity to return. Your right about a lot of the roads Bill, you do a lot ridge running. There are places on the Talahmena Trail where you can look both left and right and see for miles, all well below you.

It may be dirty, but it's hard to wash while riding!
