You were rolling around right in my backyard!
I'd guess by the pictures you were here mid summer, right? I enjoyed your description of Trinity Road; I actually had that for a daily commute many years ago, and my Great Grandfather helped build that road. The old family homestead is up on that hill.
When I was in High School I had a friend who had a job as night watchman at Christian Brothers, now the CIA (Greystone), and we used to play touch football in the landscaping and spin brodies in the parking lot.
I'm going to go back through your blog to find out how you made your way to California. This kind of travelogue is very entertaining.

Glad you liked the story!
Actually I was there in October. What's that place on Trinity that has an arbor that covers the road?
There are more ride reports for Cali in the works.

Do you mean the place on Mark West Springs Road? That would be the Mark West Lodge.

There's no place on Trinity with anything similar over the road.
Did you make it up to Skaggs Springs Road, outside of Healdsburg? If you didn't than you'll have to make another trip west.

Yeah, that's the place. Not sure about Skaggs, I'll have to look through my pictures to see.

Yeah, you missed a lot of good roads, but the ones you did are great. I love the Bodega Bay/ russian river ride. I did this area last year during the AMA Sonoma race weekend, stayed in Santa Rosa and took a different way to and from the track every day,a and out to the coast. Dillons Beach was really a cool ride, except for the unmarked sudden very sharp right/left[no, it was left/right] that caught me out and almost was a BBAADD thing. All the way there are arrows of various intensity, then out of the green this combo with no arrows and TIGHT. Not one but Two, left/right, the right one almost got me. Great stuff in the cafe in Dillons beach, photos of 8' long cohogs, enormous fish on the dock circa 1915-30 I guess.
Santa Rosa to Sonoma on the back roads, cut into the hills, the trees growing over and out from under the roads, back and forth. Great stuff, as good as anywhere, better than most. Watch the cops, they are watching you.
