Motorcycle Diaries - Great Ocean Road (PICS)
Greetings all...
ok before you pull out the shotgun and level it with my head....some of u might say its a crime to go touring on a sports bike. i think not. doing 300km's of corners along the beach and you wouldn't want anything else...total trip was around 600-700km's, i did this in 2 days, camped out for 1 night....
I live an hour, south east of Melbourne, i had some time off work and i thought to myself, i would LOVE to go touring along the great ocean road and see the 12 apostles. All i took with me was a gas burner, tent, sleeping bag, and a couple of warm clothes and tools..
The result? Handful of awesome photos, a rear tyre that needs replacing, and a sh1tload of fun
Ok, first pic....this is at the start of the great ocean road.....i love it how with a bike you can get it between the bollards and up on to areas where its not ment to be
This was just passed Anglesea..notice the nice curbes along the beach...
Yep, the bike is still running This was between Lorne and Apollo Bay
BEAUTIFUL turquoise water...
The 12 apostles!!!
These next ones were taken the next morning on the way back, as the sun was behind the camera so it gave better exposure..
Cooking in the rain!
The next morning....
This was the view, literally 20m from my tent.
Port Campbell, Victoria. Yes i know i'm parked illegally
So there we go!!! i really hope you guys enjoyed the photos as much as i enjoyed the trip and taking them.
-dim

SWEET.
Congrats.
I am sure this trip will be in the back of your mind for quite sometime, all of mine are places where I go in my mind and memories when I want to get away.
A group of friends and I are all getting together for the USGP at Laguna.
Then later in the year, we plan on ditching the women and riding down the Pacific Coast to possibly Crater Lake in OR for 5 days. It will be soul stirring.
GREAT PICS BTW.
Tell us more.

Theres something about touring on a bike that just makes it so much fun. i hate being alone, like in general i awlways need to be around people...but past few days it was jsut so much fun...i had such a good time! apart from my bike misfiring but yeah it was good!
A few corners i was giong a tad too quick so i just leaned it over further and pulled thru, scared me a few times....
One thing i love abotu riding bikes is little kids in cars. they stare at u with the biggest eyes and always wave. i think to myself, yep, these kids are gonna grow up and become fellow riders...my earliest memory of bikes was around when i was 4 or 5 and i used to watch the bike racing on tv. i used to love it. ever since then i've always had a fascination for them. and now, at 24 and been riding for a year n half, i'm enjoying every minute

Wow. Not sure which I am more impressed with. Your ability to pack all that stuff on a superbike, or the photos. Thanks for sharing, awesome pics. Hope you get the miss fire sorted out.

Great photos. Thanks for posting. I guess the days of ST's and Multis ruling the Rides Forum are over.

+1 to all, and beautiful pictures. Looks like a great ride, and why not use your sportbike for short tours?
I too get a big kick out of kids waving. And the reactions from the parents, which varies alot.
