I started today's ride with brunch with some guys from the Concours Owners Group (I call them COG-ers). After brunch we rode north on I-5 to the Arlington exit, then rode north on Hwy. 9. I did not see them take a side road north of Big Lake and I continued alone north on Hwy. 9, stopping at one of my favorite photo spots north of Haversham, where I have yet to take a really good photo. I then continued north and gassed up at Deming.
After gassing up, I headed back south the way I came, then headed west on Park Road at Haversham. I ran into the COG-ers at Park just as they were leaving Scooters. So, I turned around and followed them back south on Hwy. 9 as far as Cathcart Road in Snohomish, where I peeled off and headed home.
The sunshine which was forecast was hiding somewhere else. It was cold and overcast all day. There were wind gusts at Sedro Woolly where a strong west wind was blowing unimpeded from east of the Cascades down the valley of the Skagit River.
Although the weather left a lot to be desired, it was not raining and the road surfaces were not too bad. I saw quite a few motorcycles out today including a big pack of Harleys headed toward I-5 from Arlington. I saw many cruisers out today, which should lay to rest the stereotype of the cruiser clan being only fair weather riders. And yes, most of them waved back at me.
