Scottish Highlands Sept 2007
Hi
The following mixture of shots was taken last month when my wife and I took a trip over to Loch Laggan in the Scottish Highlands.
The Loch is home to the castle featured in the BBC TV Series "Monarch of the Glen" - Not sure where that is shown around the world but there is a shot of the Castle alongwith the Loch and the Lodge House that have all been featured.
The roads at this time of year are pretty clear of tourists apart from the occasional Tour Bus , Whilst staying at the hotel we met a couple from the outskirts of Dallas and put the world to rights over a dram or two and then the following night the hotel waas host to a group of Aussie's who were intent on catching up on the Rugby World Cup stating , at the bar , "Dont mind us we're all p*ssed !" but they seemed to have a good night.
Some of the shots were taken on the road between Invergarry to Kinlloch Hourn which is approximately 22miles long of mainly single-track tarmac with passing places and even though quite remote at the end is a Bunk-House and Tea Room ....Amazing
Anyway hope veryone enjoys them

I have wondered what the land of my ancestors looked like and I appreciate your photos. I hope you will post more from future rides.
As far as the Aussies, I don't think they were angry. I believe "p*ssed" is Aussie-speak for "drunk".

Not this year !
Hi Bill
Thats OK , its the same interpretation in the UK so I realise they were just "Merry"....
Will post more photo's but wont be this year's as the weather is starting to draw-in , these last two are from early November '06 at the same hotel when we went with our club.....The road home was interesting , being covered in snow and having only the car "tram-lines" to ride on , made switching lanes very lively.. !
We needed three of us on foot to lower the bikes down to the road so that we could leave the hotel....why do we do it .......Its fun , fun , fun !
I'll see if I can dig out some interesting shots from the last few years just to keep us going after the "Closed" season. Then its time to plan next years rides including a proper stay in Austria which we have we passed through on several occasions but never actually used a base , those video's from another post are terrific and really get the juices going for exploring those passes......

Several of us experienced the same thing on a four day tour two weeks ago. In my trip report I refered to the tire tracks through the slush as "ruts". I like your term better.

I was lucky enough to get to visit Scotland and it felt like coming home. I loved the pictures and hope to see more.
