Hypermotard Break-In Ride Tale

Took a 1/2 day vacation today and rode to lunch, but didn't take the direct route . HM acquaintance and break-in miles the aim.

The first pause is at a park along the way...

While taking pics, noticed this five foot slithering thing on the shoulder. It scooted into the brush and I was reluctant to introduce myself beyond just this pic...

This road is really the destination, not the noontime chow. It is an abundance of nearby roads like this leading one to consider what would it be like to be astride a bike designed for such pretzels of tarmac. Can confirm it is a hoot...

We must just gaze at this ribbon of road. Imagine yourself on any bike and ride it right now...

Further along I pause at a scenic overlook...

Looking back one can see where one has been. Don't want to miss that curve. On the horizon is a backbone of the Continental Divide. Rain on this side will make its way to the Gulf of Mexico. The Pacific is the destination on the other side...

Arrival at Idaho Springs. A table outside, a favorite lunchtime place, a warm day, the bike nearby, not too bad...

Note that flowerbox near the table above? There's this big furry moth/butterfly thing having a delightful lunch as well. It is flying around a foot or two from me so I pull the cam out of the pocket...

Quite an attractive pattern...

Have posted this picture before of Idaho Springs 110 years ago. Always get a kick out of it, and sometimes it is a source for reflection. Here's a typical morning scene as the ore teams prepare to head for the nearby mines...

And today, here's a typical noontime scene...

On the way home. Autumn is making its presence on the stage here at 9000ft. That's OK. Seasons are good, and so was this ride...

Beautiful rodes and scenery! Thanks for sharing.... now I have to see how long till I can resist heading out there. I really don't know what I'll do with that road... oh well I'm a master of the straight flat roads here in the midwest

Awesome! Looks like Red Rocks...I graduated from CU...saw widespread panic there a few times. Colorado is God's country.

Great photos. I thought you had been a little quiet this summer, now I see why: saving up for the HM. Will it replace any of the other iron horses in your in your stable or just add to the herd?

Thumbs up

Sitting here in the cubical, looking at the walls, I hate you just a little bit right now. You have a great eye. Beautiful shots. Really love the antique vs. current comparison. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone... a great ride.

Bill... the ST4s was sold for the HM. Five+ great years with the ST. It wasn't without hesitation for I adored the bike, but having HM tailored made roads nearby helped make the decision.
