north west California

Did about 725 miles Sunday and Monday. headed to Redding and West on hwy 299. saw a 916 (red with white nose) near Wiskeytown Lake. nice tight twisties after the lake. through Weaverville and along the Trinity river to Willow Creek where we turned north on 96 to follow the Klamath clear to Happy Camp. took county 48 across the Siskiyou mtns to hit 199 in Oregon. it follows the Smith river as does 197 which we then took until it hits 101. just north of Brookings we saw a flock of Ducs headed south. at least two ST's and a Hyper. hard to tell, as it was a drizzly fog and my visor was misted up. My co-worker Eric's family has a cabin above Brooking, OR where we spent the night. Monday morning headed south on 101 to Fortuna and hwy 36. followed the Van Duzen river through the redwoods and on and on along one of the best roads I have found. the sign in the photo is just outside of Red Bluff. it says it all. back down 99 to home. the drone up I-5 from Orland to Redding is the longest my Multi has been on an interstate.

Hi Jan,
I was up with Jim (ST3) a few weeks ago around Etna and rode to Forks Of the Salmon, Somes Bar, Happy Camp, Scott River Rd. Great country isnt it? Glad you got away and had a good time.

Mike

I got to ride a few of those roads when the ST owners rally was held in Weaverville. Great area and surprisingly, not that many people considering you are in California.

we probably would have seen less people if it was not hunting season and the salmon were not running. those rivers sure looked inviting. makes me want to do a multi day river trip. just float and camp along the way.
