Roads at home were thouroughly sanded from an ice storm, so I decided to truck the bike down to the Texas Hill Country.
Before I could leave Thursday night, I had to get the new WR reassembled with its bare essentials for woods riding.
And, if you leave town with a new bike in pieces on the garage floor, with a 10 year old kid... he WILL build something out of the pieces, so...
Then I threw the Duc in the truck.
6am Friday morning, I'm whizzing across MO, OK and TX... making just enough cell calls and phone appointments to keep work at bay.
Wow, did SW MO get hit hard with the ice! There were parts of the state in which it seemed EVERY tree had some major damage. I tried to snap a photo at 80MPH.
At OKC, my thermometer was showing a 30-degree (fahrenheit) difference from the temperature back home.
In Kerrville the next morning, it looked cold and overcast, but then the sun came out. It stayed very windy on Saturday, but it SURE beat riding around the salt trucks back home.
Who's afraid of a little gravel??
Despite the winds, the day was gorgeous.
The TX Hill Country chip n seal is tough!!! This stuff is big, jagged rocks, tarred together.
I did the 'three threes' a couple of them twice, and the wacky-fun sweepers up 55. Super fun!
