While waiting for my buddy and his Great Danes, a guy pulled up on an immaculate Honda 50. He introduced himself and said that his father purchased it for him when he was 16. He rode it until he was 18, then it sat in his father's basement until he recently rescued and restored it.

While we chatted, another guy ride up on his bicycle who said he rides an old Honda Trial 90. You meet some very interesting people while you are on a motorcycle.

Way cool! thanks Bill. first rides were on Honda 50's. later we had our own trail 90. both my brother and I rode it. even did the trip from the Bay area to Placerville several times on it. back roads through the delta. too bad so many of those hondas were torn up to make "dirt" bikes out of. although you can probably buy one brand new somewhere in the world.

The guy on the Honda 50 told me that he got many parts from Thailand via the internet. Apparently these bikes are used by many people in that country as daily riders, so there is a market for the bikes and spare parts.

I noticed a lot of these "little" bikes showing up on the streets earlier this year when gas was hitting $4.00/gallon. They are hard to beat for fuel economy if you just need to run to the store or coffee shop.
