Rocky Mountain High

It's about 0500 here and I'm waiting for Jackflash to wake up and we'll be heading out for Ouray, CO and the Ducati In The Rockies Meet. We planned to leave out about 0600 this morning but I've been up since about 0400. I'm too amped up to sleep so I gave up and made a pot of coffee and broke out the Ding Dongs. I'll probably regret drinking all the coffee once we hit the road though.

This is the first trip we've done together where we didn't ride the entire way. Jack's getting old ( ) amd talked me into putting the bikes into the back of his truck and driving across Texas to get out of all the heat and boring highway stuff. We bought a couple of these really cool Pitt Bull trailer restraint systems that hold the bike by the rear axel. Cool as Hell setup. Anyway, we hope to cover about 800+ miles today and stay in Las Vegas, NM tonight. We plan to leave the truck there and ride the rest of the way up.

I'll try to post up some pictures stuff along the way. The photos will have to be Iphone crap until I can get home and process some pictures and videos shot with the real camera and GoPro.

The coffee's starting to kick in so I better go for now.

Later.

Cant say I blame "old" Jack for taking the comfy way out of that hot ass place.
We are looking forward to hearing of your adventures, tales and crappy photos.
Travel safe, have fun and tell John we said hey, wait he's passed aint he?

First picture. It really seems funny being in front of the bike. Usually that indicates s high side.

Good luck on the trip. There are times when trailering (figuratively speaking) the bikes makes sense.

Ok, we're about half way to Las Vegas, NM. I think about 175 miles from amarillo. It 106 out and so dry it's scary. Jack was right. This would have been a nightmare on the bikes! From horizon to horizon the ground is scorched.

We just got into Las Vegas, NM. What a change from the weather we are having in Texas. The temps have dropped onto the low 80s and there's a really cool rain storm passing through. We stopped just outside town to grab a picture of it.

For those of you that know the reputation Jack and I have, about encountering occifers of the law, we have kept our record intact. But this was the first time in a truck with the bikes in the back.

70 in a 50.

Stopped for lunch in Chama,NM and thought I'd post a quick update. We finally got to the mountains. Things is just outside Taos and it was FUN and it was cold!

Just on the other side of Taos we crossed Rio Grande gorge which was awesome but my picture doesnt show very well.

It's time to hit the road again and head for Durango and the Million Dollar Highway.

Later.
