I have also found that Valvoline SynPower Dot 3/4 hydraulic fluid - Part No. 057 (boiling points: dry 513ºF, wet 333ºF) stays clear in my clutch reservoir.

My favorite brake fluids are Motul RBF600 Synthetic DOT 4, dry boiling point of 593°F (312°c) and wet boiling point 420°F (216°c), all I would use in my track bikes and Motorex DOT-5.1. Most important use brake fluid from a new sealed container to minimize moisture and contaminants.

Its definately nothing to do with humidity. I live in the far north of England and my fluids black as fucking coal.
(maybe its due to all the rain we get )

I bought mts 2011 and after first 800 miles, the clutch and rear break fluids are black. This is not usual as I did not have this issue in the past. I found this topic with the same problem as mine however i could not find any solution to solve these problem. Your comments would be greatly received.
Thanks

My local independant level 2 Ducati tech caught me stopped at the Post Office the other day. First thing he said to me was..."change that dark clutch fluid". He didn't say why it turned dark but that he thought it was bad business. I went home and replaced the 10 month old fluid with new. I think some of the blackening comes off the black rubber seal inside the reservoir. My clutch fluid always goes black first, with little or no blackening of the brake fluid. Hum?

Had the same thing happen on my Aprilia - believe it was the slave seal. The seal failed at 17,000 miles - then new seal with new fluid and within a few hundred miles it was black. Never impacted clutch performance, black or clean.

My friend also own a MTS 1200 - 2011, bought in Sep, he also has the same issue. The front break fluid is Ok. We are wonder why? It did not happen to my previous bikes Suzuki gsx600, Honda CB 1000r.
I changed the fluid twice but it happens again after 600 to 800 miles.
