Any experience with the lower seat?
I am 5'8" on a good day and the 2012 MTS that I am riding is just a touch tall, with my toes touching down at stops. I was thinking about putting on the optional lower seat that is available through Ducati. Has anyone tried this seat? Is it comfortable? Good for long distances?

I know how you feel..
I am going to get My seat guy to see if he can do some reworking the foam to some lesss denser and maybe less of it to, lose some seat height.
He did it on a Hyper with good results...
Seats are personal preference and some like and some say they are a waste of $$$ and no difference...
Boils down to your own style.
Lucky for us the bike is not that heavy and we can adapt...

5'8" as well. Try the comfort seat.
I hear ya. It was borderline for me too. I got the Comfort /touring seat and it helps just enough. With boots that have a thick sole I am fine. Good thing I dont use enduro mode much. That moves things almost out of my reach. Not sure why this bike had to come so high. Seems like a 32.5 inch stock seat height would have made all the difference for a ton of riders. They probably would have sold even more bikes.

I totally agreee on the height "Issue" for us on one side, and the taller ones on the other side...
Handeling and all other aspects like cornering etc. come into play if you Lower the bike...
Wouldn't it be Pradise if they came with the option of different seats ???
Seats are just about the cheapest Ducati offered extra there is...
If the bike was any higher it would be a real concern to but or not to buy...

I just came back from a 60 mile ride with my new low seat and I can state it is definitely not as comfortable as the stock seat. I'm sure my arse will adapt like getting a new bicycle saddle. I may just sell the low seat...

It's been mentioned here a lot, and I can also confirm, that the touring, or "comfort", seat, will get your feet just as close to the ground as the low seat will. The low seat feels too "dished", and kind of squashes your parts and gives you no ability to move around. The touring seat is very very comfortable.
It's been speculated that the touring seat is cut different in its width and that's why it gets your feet closer to the ground than the standard one.

For me, the low seat made my knees flex more and it wasn't so comfortable in longer rides. I use my boots which make me almost 2cm higher and I'm fine with the stock seat.

I hate to say it .. but...
get the touring seat if you need an extra half inch or so. Had mine for a year. I just spent another 4 hours on it and its comfortable. I never spent that much time on the stock so I cant compare but the touring is lower, comfortable and looks good with the carbon side look panels... I hate to say it as I hate that a 20k bike needs a seat change ..but this one works..
