Firstly, a Mutley in the Phil's makes sense. The flexibility and power will get you out of crazy situations and enable you to keep out of the chaos. I've done a bit of riding in Luzon and the scariest part is when you don't have the HP to get ahead of the idiots who don't see bikes. As for two-up, I'd run with the top box idea. The rider at least has bars to hang onto when the throttle is twisted. 150 HP in Sport mode is a bit much for any pillion.
Overheating shouldn't be a problem, the fans tend to sort it out (but your legs know about it when they kick in! Don't wear shorts). But don't make the mistake of turning the bike off when stuck in a traffic jam - stops the cooling system working and before you can blink you'll be in OH mode.

I've never pushed mine to the point of overheating simply because I've never put myself in a total stop/go situation on a hot day. But I've hit 225 very quickly in even mild traffic on a 90 degree day with no end in sight until I got some air flow. All my Ducati's have run very hot when they didn't get air flow.

I ride with my wife almost every other weekend (we ride mountainbikes in between). She always gets a big say in our two up bike (we have 4 bikes) and tells me the Multistrada is the 2nd most comfy bike she has ridden on the pillion seat. We ride around 500 kilometres at a time and also do a few tours over days or weeks.
We've had touring Beemers, Yammys, Guzzis and Ducs and her top favourite seat was on my Yammy XJR1300SP.
Mine is the S sports version with lots of carbon, Leo Vince and Bazzaz plus I forked out for the Ducati panniers to match.

My wife has issues with her neck and knees.
We've done 5 hour rides and she's a happy pillion on the ST with bags and
top box.
The bike doesn't throw nearly as much heat as a fully faired I-4.

You guys will like it. We tried the new triumph tiger, the triumph sprint, and the concours. Nice bikes, but the Multistrada just pushed all the right buttons for us.

wife loves top case, will ride all day
Recently spent 5 hours riding from Boston into New Hampshire and back, wife was so comfortable she almost fell asleep at one point, but woke up to punch me in the kidney when she saw I was sneaking past 100mph. She's much more comfortable with the top case on, and so am I since I'd hate to lose her off the back if I get frisky with the throttle in sport mode.

Thats too funny. We just got the Givi monokey top box and similar experience. Wife very comfortable. The top box gives her a sense of security. I got slapped because I accidently (thats my story and sticking to it) popped a little wheelie while in "frisky" mode.

My Wife is 5´10 (180cm) and 150 LBS (70 kg) and she loves the pillon.
I also put the topcase on for a backrest which was very much approved.
The ergos are good. The wife used to ride two up on my little BMW F650 and loves the MTS.
