Rizoma frame sliders
has anyone put these on . i like the fact they "look good" but concerned about how effective they would actually be.

I can't see how they would do much good, they don't stick out far enough. I put a pair of T-Rex sliders on mine, not too shabby!

Puig Pro was my choice, however I have lately considered how much damage they could do to my legs in the event of an accident. Their rear profile is quite pointed. I might swap them for something else.

I've got a set on my MTS and Tard. Since I can't install the DP Crash Guards, I went with the these. I don't think they're going to save the body work, but depending on the severity of a get off, not much would. I feel they add protection for the cases and hopefully the shifter. If you don't erase the radiator, hopefully a ride home would be in the cards. I also installed the water pump guard. It's out there by itself and pretty vulnerable. I would like to see the alt rider and Touratech pieces, but from what I've seen in the photos along with the colors they offer, I haven't been enticed to fetch set.

tks willie . i have "finally" bought the water pump guard and will fit when it arrives. not too concerned about plastics .. its all about protecting sufficiently on the less severe drops so it can still be ridden . I have managed a light drop on both sides and aside from bar ends, snapping the sacrificial levers ends, and half broken l/h hand guard , no plastics on either side were hurt in either instance

I'm not enamored by the fact that they look like they would put a lot of stress on the centre of the span of that frame tube.

I just put a set of the frame sliders on tonight, as well as the water pump guard. At 5'8" I know its only a matter of time before I have a tip over or something similar. I debated the crash bars but I think they're too heavy and they change the look of the bike. The Rizoma sliders look good, are relatively light and offer enough protection to key components that I can probably ride home.
Oh, and PJ's is the best place to get Rizoma stuff...price and service can't be beat.

+1 PJ's
They consist of a billet aluminum base with a hard rubber/synthetic pad which is replaceable and install using the upper motor mount via a through bolt. Should you fumble/drop the bike, the bar ends and levers are probably going to take the brunt of the impact. If you low side or over cook it in a turn, hopefully they'll keep the cases from being damaged and allow you to ride the bike away or minimize costly repairs. The water pump guard is a definite must, due to it's vulnerability. The likelihood of taking a direct frame shot from the bike falling over is remote, but I'd hope the frame has adequate strength considering it houses a 150 bhp engine, is married to the driveline, suspension and brakes.

I was told by more than one dealer that the sliders will end up putting undue stress on the engine mounts in case of a drop...I'm no expert, and maybe they just wanted to sell me the more expensive DP guard, but the reasoning makes sense...kinda like sleeping on a bed of nails, it's only possible because for weight is evenly spread out over a large surface area...but again, I'm no expert, and those sliders definitely look sexier than the guard...kinda like sleeping with a ... well I think you get the point
