MTS1200: Vstream sport vs MRA shorty
Hi,
I'm interested in upgrading my wind shield. I'm 6'4" with 36in inseam. I find the stock screen leaves a lot to be desired.
I think the MRA shorty might have a slight advantage in the looks department but the Vstream might be a bit more functional.
Any tall riders out there who have tried both?

Not tall but love the short V-Stream
5"8' here and I love the short dark V-stream on my black Muti. I also got the large touring version as I found a good deal on both. They are easy to switch so the short gets the nod for most days in the twisties. In colder weather longer rides I switch to the tall. There is still some wind noise with both. They are not perfect but I think that the design of the front fairing is the main culprit. It seems to direct air right at my shoulders and there is not much to minimize that. ..my .02

I’m 6 foot 1 and have had both the DP wind screen and the Vstream sport dark tint. For my height the DP screen was better than the Vstream. The Vstream was downright painful to use at high way speeds. Either way both screens were loud and boomy. The best thing that I have used is the palmer products screen relocation bracket. This bracket makes both screens quiet with almost no turbulence at 70 - 75 mph.
From my experience I think the problem is there is a low pressure pocket that is being formed behind the wind screen and the rider because there is almost no way for air to get under the screen to break up the negative pressure pocket. This is why the palmer bracket works so well. This would also explain why so many people have good results with putting spacers under the wind screen mounts.
Obviously there are a lot of other factors that can change the characteristics of the ride but universally all three of the wind screens I have are acceptable when used with the palmer relocation bracket.
The only other thing I have done that made a big difference was changing helmets. I went from a cheap HJC to a Schuberth C3, and that was worth every penny. I typically ride an hour each way to work almost every other day and I don’t need to use ear plugs (although I probably should).

I apreciate all the feed back but it seems that you ask 4 people what the best MTS windscreen is and you get 5 answers. I guess that is why there is such a large selection of screens.
I hate having to buy several screens and test them all out but it looks like that is really the best option. The palmer bracket does get a lot of positve reviews but I just can't get past its looks. Maybe if I did lots of highway miles its function would outweigh any quibbles I have with its form.
I dont have a huge issue with the stock screen in its lowest position but I only have 300 miles on my bike so I dont have near the time on the bike that some of you do.
Thanks for the inputs.

exchange
My wife has a horse and when she wanted to buy a used saddle she found several companies that would send you all the saddles you want in one shipment and you just send back the ones you didn’t want for a small fee as long as the others weren’t damaged.
How great would it be if we had a vendor that would do a wind screen exchange program for us MTS owners? I think this would be a fairly lucrative idea but I just don’t have the cash for the overhead. Just a thought if anyone was listening.

Very nice idea. Anyone know of a vendor that sells at least a couple different models?

6'5" and the CalSci shorty suits me best.

I have the V-Stream tall and use it all the time. I am 6' tall and do a lot of distance riding; the V-Stream is great for high speed as well as cold weather riding. Also, the quality of the V-Stream is great.

I do like the idea that I can swap the Vstream screens pretty easy from the shorty to the tall. It's definately a plus.

6'7, short legs, have the Calsci shorty. Love it except for the mounting hardware look. (Ah, vanity!)
Does either the MRA or Vstream sport improve on this?
