Multi vrs Hyper
Howdy, I don't post in the Multi forum much because I've been spending a lot of time in the Hyper and Sportbike areas.
Heres the story.........
Yesterday I took out my 2005 Multi for the first time since I got my Hyper and needed to get the first 600 miles on the odometer. It's been 3-4 weeks since I actually rode the Multi and after riding the Hyper for the last three weeks I noticed some things.
I ride just as fast and smooth, corner just as well and can actually go on the freeway with my Multi. And, it's not even an "S".
Yeah, I'm not Casey Stoner or anything.
Yeah, it's not as responsive since it's a 1000 cc.
Yeah, the Hyper S suspension is better.
Yeah, the Hyper is the hottest chick on the block right now and everyone wants to talk about her when I take her out.
Yeah, the Multi is a little top heavy.
But, if I could only keep one bike out of my 749s, Hyper S and Multi guess which it would be? The Multi is still the best all around bike there is.

Interesting. I love the MTS but am definitely lusting after a HM for now. I guess the grass is always greener!

I agree 100%. I rode the HM at an NHIS track day a couple weeks ago. It's a cool bike, but I'd be arrested before I made the 1st payment. My 05 Multi 1000S is by far the best bike I've ever owned. I bought a Sport 1000 when they first announced production, took delivery in Feb 06 (after I'd bought the MTS). The Sport has 289 miles on it, and I finally sold it this weekend - at a loss of $3000. Cool bike, but I'd never ride the thing.
Multistrada is the best all around bike out there. Don't know why anyone would ride anything else.

As much as I LOVE my Hypermotard, I don't know if it's the one I would choose if I could have only one bike.
YIKES! "Only one bike". Just the thought of those three words together makes me cringe!
But seriously, if I had to choose just one bike to do it all, the MS would certainly make the short list...

Of all the bikes I've had, my MS puts the biggest grin on my face. I can't wait for my HM, but my plans are to put the hard bags on the MS for my 'Tour' bike and use the HM for my blast around town/mountain roads bike.

I drool over my Hyper also. But, after you ride yours tell me if it would actually be your "one bike to rule them all".
I've never quite understood why so many people think the Multi is ugly? I'm thinking that for 08 -09 the Multi is going to get a Hypermotard influenced face lift. If they make it a proper Ducati and those that wet clutch I'll be the first in line for an upgrade.

why can't you ride the hyper on the freeway... is it worse than riding say a kawasaki klr?
I have only test driven the hyper, but that feeling of being so forward on the tank that the bike disappeared beneath me was truly special... do you get that great feeling on the multi? just wondering to get a better idea.
thanks
