Arai Helmets on Closeout

When you buy an Arai Corsair “Five,” you’re getting one of the best ventilating helmets yet created by the Japanese helmet manufacturer. Wearers will truly appreciate how the ventilation system has been improved significantly over the years thanks to rider feedback and extensive testing.

Take for example these inlets on the top front of the helmet. The buttons have been made larger than ever and have a pronounced click! to them whenever they’re opened or closed. The intake ports below each inlet that are bored into the helmet’s shell are no larger than 10mm. This is because Arai has found anything larger adversely affects the shell’s rigidity and consequently, reduces impact protection. Still, despite this perceived smaller size, every time you open or close each of these vents, you will feel the difference as you move along.

What you don’t see when operating the rear exhaust is that you’re actually in control of three separate vents. Also notice the louvers molded into the diffuser, these help pull air into, through and out of those same three holes. Even the control lever mechanism is sculpted to create air movement that is as efficient as possible. And, unlike other helmets with large contraptions attached to their exterior shells, the Arai’s external pieces are designed to break off in the event of a crash. This is done to lessen the risk of them catching and potentially injuring the wearer as he slides along the ground.
