Hello,
Great forum!!! Have found all kinds of useful information here so I thought I'd sign up. I bought a 1998 Ducati 748 with 21,000 miles a few weeks ago. It's my third motorcycle, and my first Ducati. My first bike was a 1983 Honda CX650C. I picked that up in 1990 with about 900 miles on it for about $800. It was a sweet starter bike. Then I moved over to a Suzuki Bandit 400 in 1992. Not very fast, but sporty and fun to ride. I had to sell that one in '94 and have been on four wheels for 18 years. I'm 42 years old now, so I figured it was about time to get what I've alway wanted (a Ducati) while I've still got some action in my wrists (Arthritis YIKES!!).
So far, I've gotten to ride it 4 times, including the ride home from person's house I bought it from, for a whopping total of about 60 miles. I just got done changing the spark plugs, oil, oil filter, and oil siphon filter. I'm about to run down and flush the coolant, replace the headlight bucket, and wash/wax the tank and panels. It's going to be 47 degrees tomorrow and I'm takin her out for one last spin before I take it apart to change the timing belts, do a valve job, and whatever else is listed on the 20k maintenance schedule.
Anyhow, here's a picutre of it at the previous owner's house before I brought it home.
