Allow myself to introduce........Myself.

Long time rider, relatively new to riding a Ducati.

I've had an 02 748 for 4 seasons now. Love it. I'm selling it though, because I've located an 01 996 SPS with 4700kms on it.
As much as I loved my 748 there were a few extras I wanted on it. A little more power, lighter wheels, upgraded suspension, monoposto rear-end. The plan was to do all these things over time. When I found the 996, the decision was made. It was everything the 748 was, only more.
Leading up to this I had considered a new Tuono, or a 990 Brutale, but the 748/916/996/998 series of Ducatis are timeless and I couldn't get them out of my head. I know many will disagree with me, but the Streetfighter never did much for me. The deposit has been made and the SPS will remain with the current owner till the weather gets a little nicer, or till I sell my 748. Whichever comes sooner, because I'm dieing to bring it home.

I agree. The Ducati series you've mention are really timeless. I understand why you couldn't get them out of your head! The very reason that Ducati is in the top 3.

Hi There Steve, welcome aboard, I'm new too and I'm also from the Ottawa area (gatineau). Glad to see another national Capital region member. Hope you'll get to sell your 748 soon so you can get that SPS, or better yet, hope you get more money and keep the 748 and still get he SPS...

As much as I would like to have multiple bikes in my garage, now is simply not the time. I have 4 boys under 11 yrs old and they like to have a father around from time to time. In a few years perhaps.
22 yrs ago, in another life, when I bought my first motorcycle, a Harley Davidson, I enjoyed travelling on 2 wheels. Age and responsibilities have changed my priorities somewhat, but not my desires.
In a few years, when my children no longer need or want me around I want a KTM Adventure 990R, or something similar.
A Ducati will always have a place in my garage, but for travelling cross-country, or cross-continent which is where my future interests lay, I want something more off road adventure worthy.
