i posted a poll last night asking the same question... here is a summary of the votes so far.
winner seems to be "get the S and be done with it"

Question: if the Hypermotard S didn't come with Öhlins front forks would you get the standard model and buy Öhlins with the cash you saved?
1) i would get the S and the Öhlins front fork aftermarket, even if i had to change the triple trees - 3 (13%)
2) i would get the S and be done with it - 9 (39.1%)
3) i would get the standard model and upgrade to the Öhlins front fork - 0 (0%)
4) i would get the standard model and be done with it - 8 (34.8%)
5) i hate the hypermotard - 3 (13%)
