Recent eBay sale
Has it gotten this bad (or good, I guess for sellers...)?
1978 GTS went for over $10K - it was pretty rough and not running.
Ducati : Supersport Ducati : Supersport - eBay (item 190616795459 end time Dec-25-11 14:36:49 PST)
I would have thought half as much $$$ would be a little high...

Gts
Flat dumbfounded!!!! The bike looked good from far, but did I miss the memo on the value of the 900 gts?? My conspiracy theory mindset tells me it will be relisted soon! Hope I am wrong because maybe my 860 gt will be worth $10k too! Ha!!!

Hoo-Weee I'm gonna be rich! I can only imagine what my 750GT and Darmah are worth now. Maybe I can sell shares in them to speculators.

I was dumbfounded by this also. I emailed him when the ad first came out and told him I had the same bike. He said someone offered him3500 cash. And he asked me what I would sell mine for. I said not a dollar less than 5k. I bet hes glad he didnt end the auction early! Now there is an 860gt and a 900gts on ebay. not to mention another gts on craigs today. Funny how everyone wants to cash in! The GTS is a great bike. I have 2 Darmahs also, and would sell one of those before letting the GTS go...

Can someone tell me what makes the gts better than a darmah or a regular gt? I have two 750's, an 860 and a 900ss, but no clue on why the gts is worth that much.

The GTS became desirable because it wasn't as ugly as the 860,had valves mortals could adjust and were affordable because the dealers were trying to get out from under them.

None of us have a clue why that bike went for so much. '78 was the last year for the GT / GTS - but they were all pretty much the same, albeit the later ones did have some decent upgrades / electronics. The S just means electric start.
There was a '76 that sold on eBay abt 8 months ago for 5 grand or so. I let one get away two years ago because the seller wouldn't drop from $3500. Stupid me.
They are not better than the Darmah - styling aside. The Darmah has the same motor (Desmo) as the 900SS. That alone makes it a better bike to me. That said - I'd like to add a GT to my stable when I'm out of projects. But if they are going for anything close to $10K I'll opt for an 888... Those are the current bargain, IMO.

Gt
I have stumbled upon all of my Ducatis. My 860GT is all original, but it is not pretty. It is fun to ride and was cheap. I am 90% done with a 900ss and can't wait to ride it. I guess I will just wait to see if it is relisted.
What is the difference between a GTE AND A GTS?

A gte is an electric start 860gt. A gts is more or less a different model alltogether. Diferances are seat, tank, bars, stainless fenders, dual disc front brakes, and the frame does not have the ugly loop handle behind the seat. It also has the key switch in the conventional location instead of under the tank. Dash area is very dofferant also. Anyone who thinks its simply an 860 with a differant tank has not parked the two side by side. The bikes are miles apart in styleling.
