Which K&Ns for 860 GT?

I tried the K&N set for the 750 GT, RC-1289. The base fit perfectly directly on the carbs, but I can not get the sidecover back on for the rear one. Front also sticks out a little too far for my tastes. I have seen shots of GTs with the K&Ns, but I can't for the life of me figure out which ones would fit properly. I could use them with the original rubber intakes, but that just seems silly.
I think these would be perfect, RC-2500. They would fit directly on the carbs, but they are only 2.5" tall which I am thinking may not be large enough, the 750 ones are 4" tall.
Thoughts? If you have some, how did you get them to fit? What part number?

On my S2, which has the angled rear carb, I used the original elbow inlet tube and fitted a K&N onto it, so that it cleared the side panel.

I was hoping to avoid using the elbows and affix the filter directly to the carb. Trying to lose as much weight as possible from the bike.

IIRC the ones on my 75 750 were for the xs650 Yam. they have chrome end caps and are about 4" long. As for the side cover fitting you can bend the filter sideways quite a bit without affecting anything. My buddy had an 860 and they worked fine with a bend in them.

Another option would be to fit a rear manifold from a 750.

Hmm, how would that make a difference? Is it a different angle? They a direct fit?

The 750 manifold is straight and is a direct fit.

Ohh, that would totally solve the problem if it is straight. Don't suppose you know the part number or where to source one?

0755.92.595 and I reckon that eBay is your best bet.

Just make sure that a straight manifold will allow the carb to clear the battery. I'm not familiar with the 860 GT set uo, but on a Darmah, for example, with the larger battery for the electric start they won't work.

You might have to look for a while for a 750 sport rear manifold. They aren't plentiful.
