Most Desireable/Collectable Ducati(s) ?
Please list for me your choices on the most important/desirable/collectable Ducati models?
Not Foggy's bike, or the real Paul Smart bike or the California Hot Rod but bikes that were actually available to the public (even if on a limited or pricey basis).
Given the expertise on this great list, i'm sure that great nominations will come forth
TIA for your Ducati lovin' time and passion in this effort

The top collectable from Ducati is the 750 SS roundcase, followed by the other two models, the Sport and GT. Next would be the square case SS models. The desmo singles are also very sought after, as is the Mach 1 250. Are you including Ducati's over the counter racers? these were available in limited numbers and are very rare, but were not standard models. These included the 175 F3, the SC 250 + 350, the NCR 900's and the F2 Pantahs.

Are you talking strictly "vintage" or are you interested in more recent models as well? If you want to include more recent bikes, certainly a 750F1 Laguna Seca, Montjuich, or Santa Monica would qualify. I'd also add an 851 (admittedly biased) preferably a Tricolore as it ushered in the move to the liquid cooling, 4 valve, and fuel injection in one fell swoop. Going to what would be considered "new" by vintage standards, the 916 is surely the model that really brought Ducati into the public eye in the mid 90's.

I'd include the Laguna Seca and Montjuich, but I'm not sure about the modern models, because they are too near, in terms of history, and too common, compared to the rarity of some of the classic models. I would include the Supermono and the Sedici though.

I agree with most of what's here so far with the greenframe and the roundcase 750's but some of the early singles can't be forgotten.
The Gran Sport Marianna, the first overhead cam duc
125 and 175 formula 3 race bikes
The 200 elite or any of the jelly-mold tank bikes
all of the mach 1's are collectible and desirable
250 and 350 sport corse desmos are extremely rare
and I love the square tank mark 3's
The 450 sport or any of the desmo sport singles are even more rare than the 750 sports
Yes the singles should not be overlooked, they are some of the most innovative, rare and collectible of all the ducs.
as for the newer bikes 750 F1 and montjuich of course.
TT1 and TT2's are ultra rare and valuable
and you can't forget the Supermono, one recently passed through here at $92,000
As for the 916 models the only bike I consider collectible is the 998R
of course the Desmosedici will forever be a collectors item.
time will tell on the newer bikes but it always goes that the bikes with all the best race parts are the bikes to get.

The 1975 900SS is quite rare and arguably rarer than the greenframe and just as nice. This would be the first one out of my garage in the event of a fire.

rarity alone does not make a bike desirable nor more collectible. I have a 2009 MV of which only 96 were imported into the US.
Doesn't make it a collectors item...
No, the roundcase Greenframe will always be the ultimate production Ducati to collect. but it's certainly not the rarest.
Not to take anything from your 75 SS!!! what a gorgeous bike!!!

There was one on eBay this last week with bids making it to $100,099 and the reserve was not met.
