Round Case Clutch

I am restoring a 73 GT and am going to remove and inspect the clutch plates. It looks straight forward looking at the the workshop manual. Remove the six screws and pull out the plates. Before I do, is there anything special I should be aware of? What often looks easy can be a btch.

Thanks!

Yes, it's that easy. You will need to wash all the plates in kerosine and re-oil them afterwards, as they tend to get gummed up with burnt oil and friction dust.

You lucky man. I wish that I had a GT to restore.

Duccout, thanks!

Yes, I really enjoy restoring this bike. I am getting a real appreciation to why the round case bikes are coveted, especially the engines. My ST4/916 even with generations newer still retains the same feel of the 73 round case.

Thanks again! Cal

Hi Cal,

The 750 GT is my favourite Ducati. I had a 750 Sport for 35 years, but had to sell it when I got divorced. There is no chance of getting a GT this side of the pond, prices have reached crazy proportions.
