Hard Clutch

Hi All

I'm in the final touches of my SSD resto , today I planed to have the switch gear and clutch lever/cable done. When the clutch cable was all working etc etc , I noticed that it was a lot harder to pull in than my other SSD

The cable is nice and free with no restriction my question is this

What makes for a hard clutch and how can you make it have a lighter feel ?

Cheers Marty

I was talking to Ian G the other day and he said thats not the way to go , as I asked the same question about the extended arm , he said new spring may do the trick , but he didnt have any

The reason I asked the difference between the two bikes is like worlds apart with one being nice a light with zero slip

Do you know if they both have the same springs fitted? + if there are grooves worn in the clutch hub that will make the pull harder.

I have ordered a set of new springs from Loudbikes and when they get here I shall compare and install them if there still just as hard I will have to take some time to remove both side covers and swap parts over until I know what is causing the hardness in the pull effort {{ LOL sounds like something from a Porn movie }}

Way back when it was fashionable to install 450 clutch springs to mitigate slippage.Mostly all they did was give you forearms like Popeye. If you have the cable tucked in to look neat on the left side the bend will be too sharp for an easy pull let it go wide and flop some.Routing up at the steering head makes a big difference too, bend as gently as you can.
How'd the coils work out?

G Day Bill

I have also noticed that not all cables are the same length , I have one cable that is some 2" than the other , I'll give that a go and let it swing in the breeze and see how that goes

Havent done anything with them just yet , I will have to get onto them soon though as that is the next resto inline
