Koni shocks for bevels - any differences?

Hey there,

Is there a difference between the the Koni shocks in the Bevel models?

In my SSD the shocks stamped 1298 with a lettering Special "D", and the SD is stamped 1418, though both look exactly the same....

Were they used only in the SS/SD/SSD? or others?

Help?

Thanks,

Lior.

i think both your sets of shocks are the 7610 series with adjustable damping
under the black rubber by the top eyelet

it is the lenght that differs : the 1298 is 334 mm c.t.c. and the 1418 is 330 mm c.t.c.

koni was not original fitted to Ducati beveltwins

Like wot Eldert said, Lior . More explanation, if you want it, here ('Koni' is, more or less, 'Ikon' these days.)

Ikon Suspension

(7610-1418 is wot they list for the Dramah, btw).

Ciao

Craig

Edit: Just to expand on this a bit. Dramahs went thru at least 3 different changes in their shocks. I think the details are as follows, but I stand to be corrected:

Initially, up to frame # 900989: Ceriani 300 mm.
Then from 900900: Marzocchi 315mm.
Then from 902960: Marzocchi 330mm gas shocks (and I think there were at least 2 types of these ...)

Thanks that info is really helpfull!

I thought that Koni were the original ones.. as every one of the Ducati I saw so far had a Koni

My frame is 952482 so 330mm is what I should have in mine...

Anyone knows what does the Special "D" stamp on the 1298 means?

Thanks again,

Lior.

Ah! That's 'cos the Marzocchis were so poor, Lior! They were ok when new; then they would blow their seals, and lose their damping. So naturally everyone replaced them ... with Konis .
