Please HELP! 1982 Pantah 600 TL Value????

Hello everyone,

My name is Don. I'm a new member without a Duckie, but hopefully not for too much longer. I've found a pristine, un-restored '82 Pantah TL600 TL with less than 1K miles on her. I know that they aren't the easiest engines to keep running-with the belt drive engine cam and all, but I'm not seeking a daily rider, but a trailer queen to take to vintage meets once in awhile. I want to give the seller a fair price, but don't want to take it in the shorts either. One Duc guy told me he believes $5K to $8K would be a fair MINIMUM, but I don't have a clue. Any suggestions on a reasonable value range by you vintage experts would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Get yourself onto Pantaheads and ask there-they really ARE the experts.
As to your comment about them being difficult to keep running with belts rather than bevels-nothing could be further from the truth-all modern Ducati twins are based on the Pantah architecture-it wasn't broken so they haven't fixed it.
Buy it and enjoy it.

John

Thanks for the info, Monty. As far as the belt goes, I was referring to the manufacturer's maintenance issues only- the suggested belt checks every 4-5K miles, and replacement at 12,000.

It's worth whatever someone will pay for it. The TL wasn't much loved when it was new. 5-8K? I don't think so. For a cherry SL with 1000 miles, ok. A TL, not so much.

Of course, the 860GT was a kind of a sow's ear, and just about any bevel goes for stupid money now, so what do I know?

If, for whatever reason, you really, really wanted a TL, then yeah, you'd pay whatever for it. But it's not worth a ton of money just because it says Ducati on the tank.

Just my .02
