Veglia speedo for narrow case bikes
I need to either send my original speedo out for restoration or buy a new one. It works ok but doesn't look very nice. I found new ones on ebay but I don't know if all the Veglia's are the same internally.
DUCATI BEVEL 250 SCR BENELLI GUZZI VEGLIA 100 MPH GAUGE - eBay (item 200547807855 end time Apr-25-11 06:29:52 PDT)
Will the above speedo read correctly on my stock '66 250 Monza? Is that a fair price or can I get the right one elsewhere for less?

speedo
$150 seemd like a bargin. What were you thinking you would buy it for ? Even the Benelli speedos get $80 ! If it is what you need, buy it now. I have learned the hard way that bargin shopping is not the best approach in a collectors market.
Having said that, you could always get you speedo rebuilt and sell it. $150 for a NOS speedo is cheep these days.

I need to know, first and foremost, if the linked speedo will read the correct speed when fitted to my Monza. The cost was quite secondary to the thread.
So, is the speed correction on the narrow case bikes done with the gears in the front hub or in the speedo workings?

That price is a rip-off. DB cycles are know to be slimey on ebay. If you look, you can see the speedo is not marked Ducati. These are a generic Veglia speedos that you can buy new for $50. I was able to find a correct 100mph NOS Veglia Ducati on ebay for $50. I suggest that you keep looking.

Another option may be domiracer or guzzino.

I've not seen that in my perusing over the years. Don't need it right away so I'll keep my eyes peeled.

narrowcase speedo's
SP3,
In repsonse to your question:
"So, is the speed correction on the narrow case bikes done with the gears in the front hub or in the speedo workings?"
In taking apart several hubs, for Scramblers and Monzas, the gears in the hubs are the same. So the difference between the different MPH speedo's is handled in the speedo itself.
I just looked int the parts book and 100MPH speedo is correct got GT250 and Monza, 150MPH for Mach 1 and 80MPH for Bronco (and I think scramblers, but I could not find it in a parts book.
