I love this site!
Okay, I own a 1980 900SS that threw a push rod bearing many years ago. The engine is disassembled and thankfully only the bearing suffered - no other damage to gears or cases! I have found a rod kit ($1200) but now I need someone reputable and skilled to rebuild the crank - anyone have any suggestions? I am in the U.S., so probably someone in the States would be preferred. I am really stuck here!
I have the crank at a local shop that is reputable and seems to be widely known and respected, but he is being super sketchy on how much things will cost and how long things should take - he has had the crank for a very long time now (many MONTHS), and rarely answers emails and has yet to get me a complete quote! I would really like to get the process moving, so I am at the point of pulling the plug on this guy - but where do I send this?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated!
This bike is a nice original with some period goodies - Two into one Verlicchi exhaust, 3 spoke Dymag racing wheels, 40 pumpers. I will happily post a string on the restoration of this bike (if not a site) but first I gotta get this crank issue moving - HELP!
