Pirelli Diablo Corsa III or Diablo Rosso Corsa
according to JLM in this thread
DUCATI and the Swing Arm problem

As a side note, I rolled up to the dealer with just over 7700 miles on the Corsa III's. There was a strip down the center of the rear tire where the carcas was exposed. This strip was not present when I left for the dealer, 97miles earlier.
In hindsight, it was very irresponsible and dangerous to run the tires to this level of wear, but until compared against a new tire, I never really appreciated how little center tread remained. I won't make this mistake again.

however.. I can still find the corsa III tire on line for sale AND on the website. .. for the same price as the Diablo rosso corsa.... SO
is the guy right? are the corsa III's being discontinued? and even if they aren't..
as a vote .. which should I get? the III's or the rosso's?

Shame on you BL. You should know by now that if your bike needs to be thrown away when the tires go bad. Don't install the Rosso's unless you want a major catastrophe.

Basically DUCATI recommend to use tyres originally supplied with the bike, but they forgot to mention the reason. Reason is that the swingarm has been designed only for a particular tyre DIABLO CORSA 3 190/55 and if you try to change with DIABLO ROSSO CORSA of the same size….bang…..when the tyre warm up it touch the internal part of the swing arm….even if Pirelli says the tyre is compatible.

tell me about it.. I bet a shop hammer to the inside of the swing arm would take care any 'interference
SO .. hopefully somebody will know... If I buy the Rosso Corsas and the 14 t bit that I've been meaning to get for a while .. and rotate the hub backwards to keep the chain tensioned .. will it all work great or will I just have to do it and try it?
NM.. I am reading more of the other thread I linked above.. dumb noobs always asking questions that've been answered

The September issue of Motorcyclist confirms the Corsa IIIs are being discontinued and being replaced by the Rosso Corsas. According to the mag, the Rossos are better in every way. I await reviews on this forum.
I just put on a new Corsa III last week with no problems ordering one. I still have a Corsa III up front so that is why I went with another out back. Next tire change will be Rossos front and rear. Though that rumor about the swingarm freaks me out, I have a hard time believing it. That would just be horrendous negligence.
What does concern me is that the DCT on the S was specifically tuned for the Corsa IIIs. (I think this conversation has been done before, but warrants another look). How will Ducati address this?

The Rosso Corsa rear tire mounted on my S with stock 15t sprocket has about 5mm of clearance between the tire and swingarm. None of the other bikes at the dealer, fitted with Corsa IIIs, had more than 7 to 8mm of clearance. It's tight but after a few hundred miles, there are no obvious interference issues.
Interesting note, the mechanic put 39psi in both front and rear (I had been running 36psi with the III's); thinks it's arbitrary or related to the 5mm of clearance?
