The vapor canister, finally, where is it on the SF848. I've removed it on all m other bikes, but need some pictures to show me what parts to remove from the SF848 engine.

On the left side just above the horn. Pull the hoses and take it off. Plug the hose going to the throttle bodies and extend the tank vent hose. Now you have a nice spot to hang a better horn/s.

my bike is completely stock and has 630 miles. i plan on asking the dealer when i take it in for the first service. it's only happened twice, but pretty much same scenario both times. getting off work, bike wouldn't start after sitting in the sun all day.

You can test the theory of the evap can with less than two minutes work, just locate the line coming from intakes to the canister (connects to top of canister, only one line since it tees into both intakes) pull it loose and temporarily plug it.

If it works, proceed with the full removal, if not stick it back on the can and let the dealership look at the bike.

I will give this a try next time it happens.

Quick follow up for those experiencing this problem. I got back from a ride to day and parked the bike in the garage (temperature in garage is about 105F). Waited about 40 minutes and tried to start the bike. As before it started up briefly but immediately died. As suggested by 3-stroke and Wonway, I disconnected the evap canister and plugged the hose coming from the throttle body. And, bingo! Bike started up immediately, no need to hold the throttle.

Big Thanks Everyone!!

One quick question though. I extended the hose coming from the fuel tank (the larger of the two hoses) and routed it alongside some existing hoses that end just behind the bottom radiator (hope this description was clear). Is this a safe place to route the hose? It seems safe, but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks again,
Roman

That should be fine. Glad it worked for you and thanks for the update!
