Looks like both fork seals gone

Well , Gaz came round today & we thought we would have a bimble out to Rivvy. Pushing the SF out i noticed a little bit of oil on the tyre. Anyway, arriving at rivvy it looks like both fork seals have gone.

WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT ?

Could the cold garage have had an effect ?. Not happy about both Ohlins seals gone.

Never had this happen like this on any Duc ive had before

I've heard it can be caused by one-handed powerslides

Seriously though, strange that it happened to both at once......have you followed a dump truck full of sand recently?

As for the cold, If temperatures where you are (lows in the mid-20's F I'm guessing?) caused it I think we'd be hearing about it a lot more.

I can see a situation where extreme cold could cause the fork tube to shrink more than the seal can compensate for, but I have no idea what the thermal properties of either the tube or the seal are so it's total conjecture.

Look at the bright side, leaking fork seals are better than leaking cases, strange engine noises, and lots of other problems we've all faced over the years!

I'm in the same boat, I think it's from the drop in temp.

Although mine hasn't been in anything lower than 15 C* in my parkade.

Actually, the showa seals are quite a bit better than the ohlins ones.. Hell the showa FORKS are a lot better than the ohlins! If you havnt ridden a BPF equipped bike, you owe it to yourself...

GSXR works fine, with the proper grease and install last much longer than ohlins ones.
