848 Streetfighter vs. S4R\S4RS

I'm considering an 848 SF as a stablemate for my GT some time down the road. On paper, the 848 seems to have a lot in common with the '07-'08 Monster S4R\S4RS - similar power, dimensions, ergos, weight, even looks (to a degree) - so I can't help but wonder if a gently used S4R\S4RS would do me nicely at 2/3 the price of the 848.

Both bikes appeal to me stylistically - especially the shotgun exhaust. I know the 848 is still an unknown quantity, but would anyone care to offer some "educated" speculation on what the ride differences between an 848SF and a S4R\S4RS would be?

I sold my S4RS to get an 1098. I miss it every day. The S4RS will be a bit more "raw" I think both have head turning looks. S4RS is very comfy for long rides, gobs of power, and looks awesome!

I would choose the S4RS if you can find one that was well taken care of. I like the looks and the rawness it has. The same reason I like my SFS. The 848SF will be a nice bike for some but it lacks the rawness and character traits that the other two motorcycles have.

I've got both a 2008 S4Rs tricolore and a 2010 SF, the SF is a little more raw than tha S4Rs but they both make speed at quite a rate of knots and are definately keepers.

The biggest difference I find is the riding position, you sit in the SF where as you sit on top of the monster, to make them both more comfortable for my old body I've installed rizoma bars and on the monster a sargent seat.

Thanks for the input guys. The common denominator with the S4R\S seems to be "rawness", which is a good description for what I like about it. I also think that extra 6lb of torque it has over the 848 SF might put me over the fence for it - if a nice one is available when I'm ready to buy.
