interesting phenomenon!
So Ive noticed the wind noise on my sf has been nosier than i expected. On my naked fz1 it was/is very tolerable but on Sunday i actually pulled over to sporting good store and bought some ear plugs. On the fz1 I'm more up right than the sf. could that be it? or is it that i still have the stock mirrors on the sf vs the bar end mirrors that are on the fz1? I plan on on upgrading my helemt anyways to a shoei rf1100. it seems they are the pretty quiet from my research.
All of my naked riding I've enjoyed the pure wind up till 100. now its annoying after 50 on the new bike. anyone notice a difference in mirrors?

I do notice differences in helmets. There are some helmets that I just can't wear on naked bikes because of the buffeting. I wear ear plugs all the time now so I can't say much about the noise.
You might try taking off your mirrors to see if that makes a difference.
I'm using bar end mirrors on my SF, Sport Classic and Monster. I don't notice any difference with the three bikes.

I had the exact opposite revelation during my first SF ride....it was WAY more quiet up to, and past, 75 mph than either my Multistrada 1000, or M900s. The SF also had way less wind buffeting than the others. I remember being quite impressed with the SF's aerodyanamics, particularly considering it was a naked bike. It was also much more comfortable than my 749s.
Later, when I switched from an Arai to a Shoei RF1100, the experience became even more quiet.

If you want to save your hearing, you MUST wear earplugs. The Fizzy has a little fairing, so there should be more wind protection than the SF.

I took the fairing off and turned it into a "naked" bike the only difference besides ergos between the two is the mirrors. My new sf has those stock ones which seem to me maybe creates turbulence and allows for the air not to be pure. Just a theory.

Try Radians (custom molded ear plugs). You can get them for about $15 at most sporting goods stores (Bass Pro Shop, etc). They work pretty good.

You can even customize them to work with headsets. For $15 I'm trying this mod.
