Air in clutch master.

So i noticed the other day that all of a sudden the clutch was not doing anything until halfway through lever travel. Also it felt kinda spongy for the first half. I assumed it needed to be bled and took the reservoir cover off to start the process. First thing i noticed was the fluid looked low. Not low enough to let air in the system but still a little low. So i looked for and found no obvious leaks. I bled the system at the slave with no change. So i bled the system at the master and it immediately fixed the problem. How did that air get in there? lol. Figured i would post in case it happens to anyone else.

You may have a bad seal in the slave, it happened to me with the Oberon and while you're mentioning the fluid being low, I have the feeling it's the same. Check around the slave cilynder perimeter, around the bolts, if you see wetness get it off, the fluid will eat the powder coating.
I didn't figure it out right away and that's what happened, if not, bleed the clutch on the top, with the 11mm at the lever, bubbles rise so that's the best place to purge it IMHO.

I did bleed at the top and it's working normally now. I didnt take the slave off but there was no trace of a leak from what i could see without unbolting. If it happens again i'll take it off and look behind it.

Mine was the same, built air within a 20 min ride, after bleeding it 3 or 4 times and changing the brass washers I realised the problem was down below.
Just keep it in the back of your head.

check the FAQ...

All Ducatis seep a little air into the master within several thousand miles. This is normal and it should be "burped" about once a year.

Anybody who hasn't read through the FAQ should do it so you know what info is available to you.
