Streetfighter handguards
Hey guys,
Is there any chance that the handguards from the hypermotard or similar could be fitted to the handlebars on the SF? I am asking because riding in cold weather my hands are suffering way too much and I would not like to wear esquimo gloves to ride. Also would a small screen help a lot diffusing air away from my body?

Here's one thread: Hands Protectors for Streetfighter
There's another one somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.
Here it is: Hand guard for the Streetfighter

Last year I debated on doing the Zeta bars on the Hyper... then Sakurama did his Essence of Hyper thread and I saw the HighwayDirtBike setup.
I'm in the middle of installing it now on the Hyper along with a ProTaper bar and the Scotts dampener.
I love the look of the HWDB bars on the Hyper. A real functioning crash bar. The unit is tough as nails.
If someone was interested in doing this setup on the SF, you run into the issue with the top triple clamp. I think if the top triple can be swapped out so that the bar mounts meet the HWDB specs, then it could be done. This would also perhaps allow the install of the Scotts dampener.
You can run the guards with or without the outer plastic bark buster protectors. Running it neked would probably look rather nice.

Hey Bill, do those mirrors inside the guards actually work or they're just there to avoid a ticket?

Feedback was they are fully functional, stable, and hide-able!
Wish my Scotts unit was in so I could finish installing this.
Here is the section on the Handlebar install/comments Gregor made about the HWDB setup.
The Essence of Hyper
I did not buy the anti-vibe inserts, but could add them if I notice anything bad... Great thing is that when you buy the bars thru Paul at HWDB, they thread the bars for you and insert the inserts... for those who dont care to muck up a perfectly good ProTaper bar. You still get the thread kit with the handlebar kit. Guess that's a bonus.
Edit: I measured the hyper forks versus the SF forks. Hyper forks are way fatter... guess you could use the Hyper top triple with some inserts perhaps, and adapt the Hyper kit to the SF.... any takers!?!?

I ordered the HWDB kit for my TE610 Husky and they were such a cluster-F* I sent them back.
I could have made them work with some cutting and grinding but I decided it wasn't worth the effort or destruction it would have caused.
Oh, and to me the mirrors were POS! plastic cheap crap
And to me their strength is not a plus; in a tip-over somethings gotta give and if its not the hand guard it'll be something else like the bar or the tripple or even fork tubes... I'd rather have the hand guard snap.
