MSRP pay full price SF 848 2012
Hello,
Waiting patiently for my local Ducati dealers to get '12 stock in.
Question: People pre-ordering are paying full list price...but do Ducati dealers usually negotiate from the list price as a starting point?
For instance in 2010, I bought a Harley Wideglide and was able to negotiate NOT paying full list OR the hidden setup fees sprang you at time of sale.
Any advise from current Ducati owners on how to negotiate the best out the door cost? Looking to get a new SF in Feb or March when they are available here in So Cal.
I also read somewhere that a crated Ducati ships with two exhaust systems, one for California emissions and also the one for the other states. Not sure about this but being new to the Ducati market was hoping that the experienced owners could chime in with some tips on the first time Duc purchase.

My dealer was almost sold out of their allocation for 2012 so it was MSRP or nothing. I think I paid 14,9 OTD.
I tried and they were in no ruse to make a deal. Plus I was hungover and it was christmas eve and they were closing in 30 minutes and was in to mood to fight for 1k.

Typically when a new duc comes out you wont get much break on msrp. If you're willing to wait til the end of the year and IF they have any of the model you want you've got a better chance at negotiating.
But you can try to get your first service(s) free. Other incentives like that.

First of all freight and set-up fees are not exactly hidden. Anybody who's not fresh off the turnip truck knows they exist on every new bike purchase.
And no, they are not shipped with two exhaust systems. All Ducatis pass California emissions and Euro standards which are much more strict than Cali.
No dealer is going to come off MSRP on a brand new model. If you want to deal wait 6 months and a few will be sitting on show-room floors, you might save yourself $500... (and miss the riding season)
You may be able to negotiate for the fees but many won't because they will have plenty of buyers.

My Streetfighter was the first one sold in Hawaii, so you know I didn't get a deal...like flyn says, you can wait until the end of the year and maybe save a few bucks, but I'd rather be riding...

I did find one way to get a deal on a SF. When I purchased mine I walked in with actual cash in hand and told them what I want and what I was willing to pay. Needless to say I did not get the second part, but I also did not pay MSRP - we met in the middle. I also did not pay the Setup fee nor the TTL. All in all I think I got a good deal.
I also bought my '10 SFS in Feb of '10.

Best I found so far is that they will give a free first tune up...
13k MSRP
650 for setup and transport
140 licensing
and state tax...
