Just ran out of gas
Hmm just ran out of gas in the middle of the highway. Thought the reserve was supposed to be 30 miles but with my style of riding its apparently 20. Now bored here waiting for somebody to bring me some petrol...

The trip meter is your fren.
I never relied on the low fuel warning. At least you know now how much MPT your getting, Yes?

Ya know that is one area I think the design fell short on the SF, the superbike dash shows you all the data you need to see. No need to toggle.
When Mike builds his 1198 SuperFighter, I hope he migrates the superbike dash onto the bike.

Gee Dee it people! Listen up. This aint rocket science. Strap a plastic 1 gallon gas can (full of gas) on the back of the bike and ride until the bike runs out. Note how far you went after the light came on. That's it. That's all it takes. Never again will you have an excuse of not knowing.
Now a warning for you rocket scienctists, when you do this don't head out into the desert with 2 gallons of gas in the bike.

Correct Gilly but at the same time it isn't rocket science..... I find I get 48 to 52 mpg from my SF and it is easy to track if you reset the trip at fill up.
Still in this day and age you would think an ACCURATE fuel gauge would be possible wouldn't you?

This is all true... on top of that, the ECU is capable of tracking MPG just like in the ST line. With my bikes, I'm constantly toggling over to temperature or trip meter. There should be no reason to do so. And on the SF, you dont have a temp gauge, you have cell phone bars. Such silliness.

At 60 to 70 mph on the freeway... fun riding on the twisties it drops to 40 plus or minus.... Marty at Ducati Seattle really does know how to get bikes running well. My SportClassic also get 53!. I get 145 to 150 miles before the light goes on on that bike.
And no I am not burning valves; plugs and exhaust is the right shade of light grey.
When I first got my SF the exhaust was always black...
