Termignoni Slip On without new ECU?

So I bought myself a new leftover 2010 Streetfighter and decided to purchase the Termignoni Carbon Fiber slip-ons with the DB Killers. I have not installed them yet, but was questioning the need for the high performance ECU that matches the exhaust. Do I really need it? I really was only buying the new exhaust for the look, not to go faster. Anyone out there have experience with this situation? Will the bike run ok with the stock ECU and air cleaner? Would love any info, thanks and hope you all have a nice holiday !!

You are right. For the look you don't need a high performance ECU.
Because the high performance ECUs are only for those who wants to be faster and fastest.

Congratulations on the new Streetfighter and welcome to the forum. You'll love the bike.

It probably won't run too smoothly below 4500 RPM, but then it probably doesn't in stock form either. Lots and lots of info here about fueling problems. Please spend some time reading the FAQ section and then a do a couple of searches for infomation on the numerous ecu related threads...there are many, many, many. Enjoy!

If you are buying new termis they come with the new ecu so why wouldn't you want to use it? In fact you could use it and send your original one for a reflash and install that when back.

Hi, I purchased the slip ons from a private seller, without the ecu . I was curious to hear if anyone had just installed the slip ons without the ecu and hear the results before I installed. If I need to do the reflash or install the high performance ECU I will, but a few extra revs is not as important to me. Just want the bike to run ok. I dont have the luxury of road testing here , its freezin out there till March !! thanks

Since you're in NJ, I'd suggest you call and then visit Dave at Redline Performance Motorsports. Tell him what you're doing and he'll be able to help you out.

The bike is already very lean. If you are gonna run the termi's w/o db killers then it will be even more lean.

You should take FlyingQ's advice and get the ecu reflashed by redline or one of the other recommended tuners on this forum.

I'm surprised I haven't seen a "Read the FAQ" post yet..... :-)
