New owner. Manual-less

So my bike is getting delivered tomorrow. But im leaving tonight. I was really hoping to get a chance to take my manual with me to read on the plane, but that's not going to happen. Whats the break in period and how? I was hoping when I got home i could take it around the block and not sit there and read up on instead. I believe in by the book and not the ride it like you stole it approach that some people swear by.

Big Chief!!!!!!! Congrats man!!!!! :-)

I believe the manual says to get the first service done at 600 miles. The service icon will show on the dash right at around that time.

For me, I made sure I serviced mine at 600, but I always made sure I never turned the engine over till it completely cooled down from the last run. Up and down shift a bit on the lower aggressive side. Engine break as often as I could. Kept the engine revs at different measures semi-constantly. Full-syn only.

Plan your first 600 miles well. I wouldn't reccomend small 1 or 5 mile trips within the first 600 miles. Just my 2cents.

Best of luck to ya.

Congratulations...

600 is right for the first oil change. Also, try not to stay at the same RPM's for long in the break-in period. ie: highway cruiing. Mix it up (RPMs)...

If you want to go by the manual it says to limit the RPM's to 6000. It also says to vary the engine speed and not to do steady cruising.

Download the Owners Manual from Ducati.com and take it with you. It's in a .pdf format. It's free.

When you bring in the bike for the 600 mike service, make sure that you have just over 600 and not 598 as there is a re-set button that can't be reset below 600 miles.

Oh yeah, congrats on your purchase and welcome aboard.

The spanner warning light usually come on at 620 miles, if you have it serviced before the light comes on you'll have to return to the dealer again to have it swiched off.

You will get the urge to hammer on it a bit , Go ahead let her rip no harm done if it is around the recommended RPM,
Don't forget about breaking in the brakes and all the other new parts on it ,
Don't do anything STUPID and you will be OK.
New Tires also need scrubbing in...

Fine choice of a Machine , I would go for a little longer ride than Just around the block, Maybe break up the 600 mile into 3 or 4 rides at least ...
You won't Fu@k it up ,
Enjoy...
