Service and upgrade

Well, I took my SFS to NPR Ducati to get the 7500 mile service. I am also upgrading it to a set of matched injectors and going to a -1 front sprocket. Just wondering what kind of difference the Duc will give me. Has anyone done these two changes?

Paul almost had me talked in to putting the larger air intake runners on her and then putting her on the dyno. Would love to do this but will have to wait until Feb before I do that.

My dealer said it's better to go up on the rear. Said that going down a tooth will cause the chain to wear into the guide/swingarm.

This is bound to draw objections, but that is what he told me.

how much are they gonna charge you to do the matched injectors? Many here have said that's a very good idea...

Are you running any type of ECU tuning? If not then matching injectors alone will probably not net much. With a Dyno tune and the proper tunable ECU then yes, go for it.

On top of that, you will be paying for setup on adjusting the bike to the injectors, why not do both so you dont have to do that twice.

I agree with what your dealer said, just for a different reason. A larger rear sprocket changes the angle of the chain giving it more of a lever arm. This greater lever arm will make the front end more lofty, giving the feeling of more power. Plus dropping the front sprocket size makes the chain take a sharper turn. The latter puts a little more stress on the chain.

Currently the bike is running a Redline Performance Flash, I have opened the stock air intakes to allow more air. I have also installed the Term slip-ons with the DP race filter. I called NPR and told them if they can help me out some I want to add the Dyno to my bill. We shall see.

Separate note: I spent some time on the "Hand made Mods" sticky yesterday and am thinking about adding a "scoop" to the stock air intake runners like jdurward's on page 2. Not sure yet but thinking.

Comments????

As long as you are keeping an eye on where your AFR is headed both at idle and running (dyno time), that is my main concern. All of your mods should be verified to be in the good AFR range with the ECU, or by adding a piggyback. That's probably what NPR had in mind. Good luck with it all... The bike is re-born once the fueling is fixed.

If you're thinking about doing the ram air thing, forget about it. It doesn't really make any difference at speeds under 200 mph. I'd just install a set of bigger intake runners before you get it dynoed. Shift-Tech sells a nice set and gives a 10% discount to forum members.

Matching the injectors will do absolutely nothing for you unless the tune you currently have was done on a bike with matched injectors...

Your money would be better spent fine tuning the map on the dyno. If your tech at NPR can do that then that's the way to go.

Why do you want to match the injectors? Isn't the bike running the way you want?
