Seat cowl wearing into the rear fender (cheap fix)

OK, so maybe I'm just picky, but it bothered me that Ducati didn't somehow address the way the seat cowl wears into the rear fender where they rub/vibrate together.

A fix i have been trying is simple Red electrical tape around its perimeter. Initially I must have stretched the tape when applying it, so it sort of was pulling in around the curves. But I realized that and went back and made sure to just lay it around the perimeter without stretching the tape and it has stayed in place.

Unfortunately, I didn't do this until riding the bike for a while so there are grooves where the cover touches the fender, but not too bad. And I definitely think it quit digging innto the plastic.

A simple and dirt-cheap fix to an admittedly trivial thing. But at least it gave me a reason to tinker around the bike.

I did have electrical tape in the groove on the bike for a while. It sort of moves around during the summer with the heat and all.

One thought would be a light bead of silicone to give the seat a place to rest and not vibrate. The same issue with the tail light and how it mates up with the tail plastic... same "powder" is produced from vibration as it wears into the clear coat.
