Are you used to I4's? twins tend to be grouchy and juddery at low revs, it's those two big pistons causing it. Different fueling maps can also help. Try slipping the clutch a little more at lower revs, it's what I do.

It's not the engine configuration I'm pretty sure it's the clutch assembly,a very harsh judder bit like a wet wet brake drums on a car and I can feel the vibe through the bike, once the clutch lever is out and I'm moving it's gone,it's under the torque and initial bite

Mine did that when it was new and it eventually went away. At the 7500 mile service the dealer did a thorough disassembly and cleaning of the clutch pack and the noise/feeling came back. As before it eventually stopped. For me it just appears to be a case of the clutch pack being a little grabby when it's in a freshly cleaned state.

It is common to Ducati dry clutches. This is why EVR created the progressive engagement pressure plate.

Update on clutch judder feeling.
I stripped put the clutch today to find it quite dirty and the clutch basket and clutch friction plate tabs to be worn (where they contact each other)
I'm sure this is whats causing my problem and I can see how the E.V.R progressive pressure plate can dampen this out,I'm not sure if I should file/smooth the burrs off the basket and plates or would this increase the tolerance too much??? ,advice would be grateful,I'm going to order a workshop manual on cd rom to aid in my future efforts.

I had to file/de-burr mine. Its not ideal but it will buy you some time. You can scuff and flip your metal plates(not the concave one)also.
