Installation. Instructions/tips for Tapered steering bearings

So I got a set of tapered steering bearings for the bike since I broke one of the stock roller bearing while pulling the fork out (cage snapped).

Question is regarding the install since they did not come with instructions.

Looking and trying them on the steering column I'm assuming I'll need to remove the race inside the frame steering column and that near the lower tree.
I think this can be done with punches and a pry bar.
Once removed use a socket or piece of PVC pipe to pressure but the bearing and race in place.
While the lower race look like it can be flushed with the lower triple I'm not sure about spacing on the top race and how to measure it.

Any thoughts? I'd hate to have to buy a new stock bearing set because I don't know how to install these.

Any input would be appreciated.

every bike seems to be a little different and I did not change the bearings when I had mine apart but in general bearing races just need to seat firmly bottomed out.

They should come out with a long drift or monster screwdriver used as a drift. Do not pry them out!

Tap them in with a hammer and piece of wood until you hear the tone of the blow change and seat them squarely.
If the races are not seated properly they will move with use and you'll end up with a loose steering head.

I did not confirm this procedure in the manual...
