49 or 50 state models?
Can anyone check the sticker on there frame and tell me if its a 49 state model or 50 state model? we have some pretty strict laws here in Cali. But when I look online it seems like the other bikes in other states have the charcoal canister which would leave me to believe its a50 state model.

All Streetfighters as they come from Ducati are legal in California. If you buy a fighter and it has the canister removed then it is not.

Thank you. There is a sf for sale in Nevada, its almost to cheap but i would consider making the drive as long as i could get it registered here in CA.

one does not need to have the cannister on the motorcycle to have it successfully registered in our state (CA). having said that, if the motorcycle is coming from out of state and has LESS than 7,500 miles on it, then the new owner/registrant must be able to provide proof that it is a 50 state bike via the 50 state (CA emissions) sticker found somewhere on the motorcycle. no sticker or failed registration and they'll flag your motorcycle in the DMV computer system. one must also be able to show the DMV official the engine number, federal sticker, and vin number as well. have some people had success in registering their out of state bikes without any of the above? supposedly, but i personally wouldn't risk doing so without the required documentation.
best success,

I guess it all depends on what kind of day they are having. They can go over the bike with a fine tooth comb or they can just check the vin and make sure its not stolen. But the sticker thing on the bike seems to be the fool proof way to get it registered without having it more than 7500 miles. to bad it seems most people remove the stickers which could hinder the transaction. Or just patiently wait for one to be sold locally. there was a board member that sold his locally, sold on Friday and i couldn't make till Saturday.

I don't know if there's any difference between buying new or used but I bought mine new and my dealer had to truck it in from Arizona. There wasn't any registration issues with it.

I got a deal on mine in Tulsa Ok, rode it back to Oakland. DMV was easy except I had to pay sales tax, under 7500 miles, that sucked! There is a sticker on the right side of the frame that will state that it meets cal smog. Mine has been modified but the inspector only looked for the sticker mentioned above, vin stamp and miles on bike. Your looking at over $1000 to get your plates

Thanks for your input, I'm constantly on the look out for that "one". for some reason the black with the gold forks just says "ride me". I'm just looking at the neighboring states rite now.

Chief, you should have a look at the black used one at Pro Italia....it's got some very nice aftermarket parts/pipe on it as well.
